Novella Fest 2019 – a Literature Festival held at International Centre Goa, organized by Novella Short Stories in association with Directorate of Arts and Culture Government of Goa and International Centre Goa
Novella Fest 2019 – a Literature Festival organized by Novella Short Stories (https://novella.co.in) in association with Directorate of Arts & Culture, Government of Goa and International Centre Goa was held on 16th February, 2019 at International Centre Goa. The main aim of the Fest was to enable the participants to interact with Authors.
Many renowned Authors and publishers were a part of the panel discussions held at the Fest. Few of the names include, Damodar Mauzo (the award winning Author), Frederick Noronha (Publisher, Goa1556), Gajanan Jog (award winning Author), Anita Pinto, Rochelle Pereira, Wilfred Goes, Nisha Sanghvi, Sunita Bansdawala, Pravin Sabnis, Sonia Sabnis, Jade D’sa, Inacio Fernandes among others. The panellists dwelled on many aspects related to writing namely, “Why encourage writing among youngsters?”, “Writing opportunities for youngsters”, “Looking for a story” and “Local Authors and Vernacular Literature”. Over 100 students from schools and colleges in Goa are expected to attended the fest. Some participants also travelled from Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore, etc. This was a OPEN FOR ALL and FREE Event. The event also had a book exhibition from local publishers and bookstores. The event was also supported by Goa Tourism, Delfinos and Rajhauns Publications. The event started by observing a moments silence to pay our respects to late Mr. Francis D’souza and late Mr. Vishnu Wagh. Also at the event, Novella Short Stories provided 50 books published by them to Mr. Peter Borges of Human Touch Foundation as a part of their donate-a-read campaign to provide good reads to underprivileged youngsters and kids.
The results of the National Level Short-Story Writing Contest 18-19 were also announced at the event. In the Juniors Category, “The Mysterious woodlands” by Mahi Sanghvi won the first place, followed by “The Mother’s tears of Joy” by Veer Shah and “Heist of the Pink” by H Nideesh won the second and third place respectively. In the Youth Category, “Perspective” by Mathiraj won the first place followed by “The Power of Determination” by Snigdha Soti and “Serendipity – A Happy Chance” by Rithanya Gopu won the second and third place respectively. In the Seniors Category, “Unsung, Unknown” by Reena Kahlon won the first place followed by “ The Traumatic Surgery” by Sunita Banasdawala and “A Refreshing Rendezvous” by Natasha Wheeler won the second and third place respectively. The contest saw over 500 entries from across the country, out of which 300 stories were selected an published on Novella.co.in .These stories can be read on the novella.co.in platform.
